LETTER FROM CORNUCOPIA.
The Time to Build the Bridge—Freight From Winnemucca—None From Elko—
Hussey Going to Build a Mill—How to Secure the Spring Trade.
Cornucopia, Feb. 2, 1876.
Editor Silver State—The Silver State of last Thursday was received here last night and read with pleasure by many. We are now anxiously awaiting the arrival of your Bridge Committee. Hope the site will be selected and work commenced at once. The weather is pleasant—just the time to build the bridge—which must be done before the river rises. Freight teams from Winnemucca and Paradise Valley are arriving almost daily, but none from Elko.
It was reported here last night that the Hussey Company had levied an assessment of one dollar per share on the capital stock for the purpose of building a mill in the Spring. They have lots of good ore—enough to warrant their doing so, and they will want a large quantity of machinery hauled, early in the Spring. Bridge the Owyhee and it will all come by way of Winnemucca, nary pound from Elko. I am in a hurry to go into Court this morning, but some time this week will write you about local matters.—S. M. H.
